Presentations

I write picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books, so I'm able to talk to a wide range of age groups.

I can speak to lower school grades only, or can present assemblies to an entire school in two ways:

• 3 large-group assemblies: a 40-minute presentation for K - 1, and a 55-minute presentation for grades 2 - 3, and 4 - 5/6.
• 2 large-group assemblies in the morning, one for K - 2 and one for 3 - 5/6, followed by an afternoon writing workshop for approximately 20 students who are eager to have a prompted-writing experience followed by a critique. (See details under Writing Workshop)

Preparation

The more familiar the kids are with my books, the more meaningful an author visit will be to them. I like to hear from teachers and librarians a week or so before my visit what the kids have been doing to prepare, so that I can adjust my presentations accordingly.
