Dear Teachers and Librarians:
I've been on the road quite a bit these past few years, visiting schools, and loving every minute of it, but now my favorite illustrator/husband, Jim, is beginning to complain. He says he's tired of staying home with the dogs and the cat, and wouldn't it be nice if I stayed home with him for a while? Except for visits I've already scheduled, I've decided to limit my visits for the 2010-2011 school year to local ones that I can do in a single day. The dogs will be very sorry about this new arrangement because Jim lets them sleep on the couches, eat the cat's food, and generally run amok, but they will have to adjust. And I'm very sorry to miss visiting your schools and talking with you and your students about books and writing.
Please check here next fall for updates. You never know -- Jim may get sick of me being around all the time and be urging me to take to the road.
Very best wishes,
Kate |

Quick Facts
About the Author: I’ve taught 4th and 6th grades, and have written over
one-hundred books for children. Each fall and spring, I enjoy visiting schools
and giving presentations that explore how stories spring from many sources, and
helping young writers tune in to their own potential story ideas. |
